IIVS at Upcoming Meetings

ESAC Meeting

Dr. Curren will attend the March meeting of the European Center for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM) Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC). The primary role of the ESAC is to provide the ECVAM with high quality scientific, independent, advice on the scientific/technical validity of methods for the assessment of the potential toxicity, efficacy and potency of xenobiotics (e.g. chemicals and biologicals). This advice will be provided in the form of published “ESAC Opinions” that will clearly specify the scientific rationale for the position taken. The advice will be based on validation reports, made available to the ESAC by ECVAM, and peer reviewed by specialised ESAC working groups. The opinions will clearly specify the capacity and limitations of the test methods in question and may comment on its potential application(s). Upon request by ECVAM, ESAC may also provide scientific advice on any other issue related to the mission of ECVAM.
