Nicole C. Kleinstreuer, Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow at EPA’s National Center for Computational Toxicology, will present her work on the Virtual Embryo Project. EPA’s Virtual Embryo research project is conducting studies to develop prediction techniques to improve our understanding of how environmental influences may impact unborn children. There are limitations to the number of chemicals that can be tested using traditional animal studies and there are uncertainties associated with extrapolating animal testing results to humans. The project aims to develop computational tools to increase the number of chemicals that can be tested and quantitatively integrate numerous information sources in developmental risk assessment.
